Summer Flower Arranger Magazine Update

Please see below a message from the National Chairman, Dr Christina Curtis and Chief Executive Officer, Steven Lane:-

“The Summer issue of The Flower Arranger magazine is due out later this week. We know how much you look forward to your ‘flowery treat’ but the cancellation of club meetings and lockdown make getting it to you a challenge.

Please bear with the situation and rest assured that your Flower Arranger Officer will try to make arrangements to get your magazine to you as soon as it is safe to do so.
In the meantime, we will be posting some highlights from the magazine on social media @flowerarrmag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

As ever the magazine is jam-packed with seasonal inspiration, step-by-steps and events. If you don’t already subscribe, the cheapest way to get the magazine is via your club; please talk to your club Flower Arranger Officer. If you are not a club member call 01778 392491 for subscriptions.”

Dorset & Guernsey Area – update – 17th March 2020

Due to the advice from the government many of our Flower Clubs have decided to cancel their meetings. As things are constantly changing please contact the clubs directly for the most up to date information.  There are contact details available on this website.

The Executive Committee of Dorset & Guernsey Area of NAFAS has decided
to cancel the May Council Meeting and also the Gala Dinner planned for
the end of June. Sandra has spoken to the Crown Hotel at Blandford
and if you have booked rooms with them phone them and they will
cancel.

Obviously everyone will be watching to see how things develop and
further decisions will be made then.

To all our members, keep safe and keep well and please keep in touch with each other by phone or social media.

Area Carol Service 2019 at Lady St Mary Church in Wareham

Around 100 members were entertained by Michael Bowyer MBE when he demonstrated at our Area Carol Service on 10th December. He introduced us to unusual plant materials and delighted us with his use of garden plant material. He gave us inspiration for decorating our homes and our places of worship. Members of Gillingham Flower Club cooked us a very tasty lunch and we returned to the church for our annual carol service. A lovely day of fun, friendship and flowers.

Floral Fundamentals Part 2

Members from clubs across the Area came together for a workshop with National Tutor, Julia Harrison to study 3 floral designs. The day, the second organised by the Judges, Demonstrators, Education and Speakers committee was another great success. The arrangements created  looked stunning and everyone had a really enjoyable day.
