Our Area AGM saw Sandy Milne complete her term in office as Area Chairman.

Sandra Taylor now takes over that role, with Sylvia Preston as Vice Chairman. Eileen Woodward becomes the new Area Secretary.

The AGM was followed by a very entertaining demonstration full of wonderful garden plant material and beautiful flowers, by National Demonstrator David Ryland.

Betty Morrison’s Union Jack

A small group of members from West Moors Flower Group set up a stall at the West Moors Multi Activity Day (MAD) held on a fine day in July this year to give people – young and old – the chance to try flower arranging.

Yogurt pots were filled with prepared Oasis, flowers and foliage were provided together with instruction. A good number of people took up the challenge and some interesting arrangements were produced. Ready made arrangements were also available to purchase. It is possible that we will gain new members too.

Penelope Lane of Owermoigne Flower Club, received a First Prize at the Dorset County Show 2018 for this design in the class “Gold Cup Winner”

Elizabeth Witcomb’s flamboyant exhibit “Masquerade”   staged on behalf of the Area, for the WAFA Elimination Competition in Leicester. Not a winner this time.

Gillingham Flower Club staged a beautiful Flower Festival at Simon and St. Jude’s Church, Milton – on- Stour over the weekend 4th/5th August. Thanks to Jan Preen their Chairman for sharing some pictures with us.

West Moors had a wonderful day and an excellent number of visitors who were all suitably impressed with the 55 floral entries and 20 photographs.

Lytchett & Upton Floral Group celebrated their 65th Anniversary with a demonstration and workshop with Hans Haverkamp. The demonstration, at Lytchett Minster School delighted the audience on Friday evening with his relaxed style and fabulous designs. On Saturday Hans tutored a well attended workshop using some of his current favourite materials, T- grass and bear grass. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day. Congratulations to all at Lytchett and Upton on their anniversary and for  organising these lovely events.
