First Video for 2021 released, “January Brings the Snow ” by Area Demonstrator Allison Finch

Our team of Demonstrators and Teachers decided we would continue to entertain you with a few videos to occupy you during the next few weeks. 
The first video of 2021 ” January brings the snow” is by Allison Finch.
Allison explores the medium of air dried clay and other materials to create a “frosty” foam free wall hanging, using garden flowers and foliage available at this time of year. Allison is an Area Demonstrator and Teacher.

It is with sadness……

It is with great sadness that we have heard that Ann Syrad died in the early hours of News Years day. She & Stuart had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in the summer and Ann had her 88th birthday in October. Ann gave much time to the Area especially as the Area President. Many members have benefited from her skills as a teacher of flower arranging and she was a long standing member of Broadstone & Corfe Mullen club .Our thoughts are with Stuart and her family.

Dorset & Guernsey Win the National Chairman’s Challenge for December

It is with great pleasure that I can pass on the fantastic news that Dorset & Guernsey Area have won the December National Chairman’s Challenge. 

12 of our clubs submitted entries titled “A Festive Gift.” These were judged by two of our Area Judges who awarded first prize to Gillingham club and that entry went through to the finals at National Level and this is the entry which won! The extra good news is that it was designed by our very own Area Chairman, Sandra Taylor. Congratulations to her and to all those who entered from the clubs. Pictures of all the entries are available in the picture gallery of this website.

Remember there is a challenge each month so submit a design to your Club Chairman and maybe yours too will be a National Winner. January’s title is “Burn’s Night”

NAFAS Virtual National Show April 2021

The NAFAS Virtual National Show April 2021. 

 The Spring…. The Happy Time of Singing Birds is Come

This is our first Virtual Show, and it will have everything you would expect.  Each week for the first three weeks of April there will be a demonstration, talk and ‘how to’ session viewable on all our various media platforms including the new website.  These will be provided by our National Demonstrators, Speakers and Teachers. The full list of these platforms will follow nearer the time.  During the last week of April all the judged competition entries will be on view.  The Schedule ‘Springtime’ created by our National Judges Committee has a wonderful variety of 12 classes.  A feast to look forward to. 

Applications are between 10th -17th January 2021 so time is short and I am sure most of you will want to enter ! 

Looking forward to seeing Dorset & Guernsey pictures in the fourth week. Plenty of time if we lockdown, nowhere to go except your flower shed/room.

My Natural Christmas featuring Area President, Irene Hickson

Who’d have thought when we started making these videos earlier in the year that we would still be entertaining you with them at Christmas?
I would like to send a huge thank you to our Area Demonstrators, Teachers and their recording helpers, and of course Steve who has done all the post production work and given us such professional results. Thank you all.
In this final demonstration video for 2020 Area President & Area Demonstrator Irene Hickson’s inspiration came “from appreciating the simpler things in life in this upside-down world”

Our Third Christmas Video is released

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and we can delight you with our third Dorset & Guernsey Christmas video.
As well as Minarets and Pine Cones, Carrie Diamond’s two Christmas designs also feature some of her favourite Christmas blooms and some gilded garden deadheading.

We are delighted to announce the first of our Four Dorset & Guernsey Christmas videos.
In this first video, Anne Clark, a Dorset & Guernsey Area Demonstrator, arranges three very varied designs based on her love of winter. She hopes they will inspire the festive arrangements that will adorn your home this Christmas.
Over the following three weeks we will release more Christmas videos for your inspiration and enjoyment. These will feature designs from Elizabeth Witcomb, Carrie Diamond and Irene Hickson.

Dorset & Guernsey Area Virtual Annual Meeting

Dorset & Guernsey Area held a virtual Annual Meeting via Zoom on 27th October 2020.

As the meeting was held via Zoom the meeting was limited to members of the Area Executive, Area Representatives, Area Associates of Honour and Chairman or Representatives of each club.
